This five-star hotel is situated in a picturesque mountain and lake landscape at Yingde, in China’s Guangdong province, a region famous for tea production. The concept of the landscape design was to create a sense of illusion; that visitors found themselves in a classical Chinese landscape painting. The existing background landscape has been framed and ‘composed’ into a variety of classical views. Layers of decorative elements have been placed to add depth to these vistas, and in a series of landscape courtyards the combination of background landscape and sky creates the illusion of landscape paintings, generating feelings of serenity and boosting the imagination.
